Recruitment Process for UX/UI Positions

🧩 UX/UI Position Recruitment Process at LCA

When a new UX/UI position opens at LowCode Agency, we follow a structured recruitment process to ensure we find the right fit.

πŸ§‘‍πŸ’Ό Roles & Responsibilities

  • The Head of Design (HOD) leads the recruitment process.

  • The HOD will collaborate with a Senior Designer to get a second opinion—it's always best to have two perspectives when evaluating candidates.

πŸ“₯ Application Intake

  • Candidates apply through LowCode Jobs.

  • Jesus handles the first screening, reviewing all applications and selecting the most promising profiles.

  • Selected candidate information (CV, portfolio, and Loom video) is then shared with the HOD.

πŸ“§ Candidate Contact

The HOD will contact the selected candidates via email to schedule the first interview.

You can use the following email template:

Important:
When sending the booking link, keep in mind that interviews usually last 30–45 minutes.
You may also want to include the LCA email signature to give the message a more professional and polished look.

πŸ—“ Interview Process

  • Interviews should ideally be conducted by both the HOD and a Senior Designer.

  • If the Senior Designer isn’t available, the interview should still proceed with the HOD alone.

  • Interview Language:
If the candidate is a native Spanish speaker, the interview will be conducted in Spanish, with a designated portion in English to assess fluency.
If the candidate is not a native Spanish speaker, the entire interview will be conducted in English.

Before the interview:

  • Record the session.

  • Inform the candidate that the meeting will be recorded.

🧭 Interview Roadmap

1. Background & Experience

  • “Tell me about your background — where have you worked, and what types of projects have you been involved in?”

2. Design Skills & Tools

  • “Are you familiar with low-fidelity and high-fidelity design? How do you approach each?”

  • “Have you worked with tools like Whimsical and Figma?”

3. Mindset Fit – Drivers vs. Passengers

  • “At LCA, we value ‘drivers’ over ‘passengers.’ How do you see yourself in terms of taking ownership and initiative in your work?”

4. Technical Knowledge

  • “What’s your experience with tools in our tech stack, such as Glide, Bubble, FlutterFlow, or Webflow?”

5. Career Goals

  • “What are your short- and long-term career plans?”

6. English Fluency Check

  • “Can you tell me a bit about your hobbies or what you enjoy doing outside of work — in English?”
Let the candidate speak in English during key parts of the interview.
This is crucial to assess their fluency.

πŸ’Ό About the Role & LCA (to share with the candidate)

Let the candidate know a bit about the agency and the benefits of working at LCA:

  • ✨ Yearly performance bonus

  • πŸ–οΈ Paid time off

  • πŸ“š Learning budget (for paid courses or certifications)

  • πŸ‘₯ Team of 38 people and growing
