English Class Enrollment for Brazilian Team Members

Purpose


To ensure all Brazilian team members at LowCode Agency have the necessary English proficiency to perform effectively, and to support their language development through structured English classes.


Scope

This procedure applies to all new hires from Brazil and any existing Brazilian team members who need to improve their English language skills.


Responsibilities

  • HR/Team Lead: Assessment coordination, enrollment, and attendance tracking
  • English Teacher: Group assignment, class delivery, and materials distribution
  • Team Members: Test completion, class attendance, and participation

  1. Initial Assessment

  • Upon joining, Brazilian team members must complete a 15-minute English test:
    EFSET Quick Check
  • They must upload a screenshot of their score in the designated Slack thread.
  • Team members scoring below 80% are required to attend English classes.
  • Team members scoring 80% or above are exempt (but encouraged to participate).

2. Enrollment Process

If the team member scores < 80%:

  1. HR contacts the teacher (Carolina Gomez) for group placement (Group 1 or Group 2).
  2. Share the member’s info with the teacher for scheduling and communication.
  3. Notify the team member of:
    • Their assigned group
    • Class schedule
    • Class frequency: twice per month (every other Friday)
  4. Add the team member to the #english-class-pt Slack channel.

3. Class Structure

Groups:

  • Group 1 and Group 2
  • Each group has 2 classes per month

Schedule:

  • Fridays, 5–6 PM (Brazil time)
  • 4 sessions/month total (2 per group)

Materials:

  • Teacher sends class content and homework before each session (via email)

4. Attendance Policy

  • Attendance is tracked by the teacher

  • Missing 3 classes (cumulative) results in removal from the program
