Design Test for UX/UI Candidates

When there's a new open UX/UI position, we need to send a design test to the selected candidates.

You can find the test template here:
🔗 Design Test Template

🧠 The Design Test Structure

The test includes two challenges—one focused on UX and the other on UI—since both areas are key to this role.

Challenge 1: UX
Objective: Evaluate how the candidate interprets a scope of work and maps out a basic app based on the limitations of Glide.

Challenge 2: UI
Objective: Improve a UI section from the LCA website to assess the candidate's design thinking, branding approach, and visual decisions.

📁 Organization

To keep everything organized, we’ve set up a dedicated folder in Whimsical:
🔗 Test Folder

For each candidate, create a subfolder named:
Test – {Candidate’s Full Name}

Inside each candidate folder, include:

  1. UX/UI Practical Challenge doc
→ Make a copy of the template and update any relevant details (especially if any part of the test changes).
→ Update the max number of days allowed and the due date.
→ Link to the Whimsical board under Challenge 1 where it says "Start the wireframe here."

  2. Whimsical Board for Challenge 1
→ Create a blank board and add it to the same folder.
→ This board will be where the candidate builds their wireframe.

  3. Figma Link for Challenge 2
→ This is already included under "Find the Figma file here." in the challenge doc.

🔐 Permissions

Set the following access permissions:

  • Whimsical Doc: Comment access – so the candidate can add their Figma link as a comment.

  • Whimsical Board: Edit access – so they can work directly on the wireframe.

  • Figma File: View access – the candidate will duplicate the file into their own space.
