How to Create 3D App Videos for Social Media

This step-by-step guide will help you understand how to create 3D app mockup videos designed for social media sharing.

🎥 Video Types

We create two types of videos:

  • Static – The device mockup displays a still screenshot. The screen content does not move.

  • Animated – The device mockup displays a recorded screen video, simulating user interaction with the app.

🤔 How to Create the Videos?

  1. Go to Rotato to decide which template you would like to use (each template has in the device screen the size of it).
  • Rotato for Mac – A one-time purchase desktop app.

  • Rotato Web – A browser-based version with a monthly subscription.

Rotato web app: monthly subscription app.rotato.app
  • username: catalina@lowcode.agency
  • password: code send to email ones if log out then needs to send the code again

2. After deciding the template, go to Figma and re-size the frame of the app in that specific measures.

3. In Figma, select the frame you want to animate. Keep in mind that the frame needs to have the same size as the selected template from Rotato. Each template on the screen has an image with the screen size.

  1. Right-click and choose "Plugins > Jitter", then click the "Copy" button.

  2. Jitter will open in your browser with the selected frame.

  3. In Jitter:

    • Use the Design tab to make small visual adjustments.

    • Use the Animate tab to create motion:

      • Select an element.

      • Click "New Animation" and choose the desired animation.

      • Repeat for other elements as needed.

  4. When finished, click Export > Lottie.

Note: The only format that doesn't have a watermark is Lottie, the rest of them will include a watermark in the bottom-right corner.

In case you ever need to remove a watermark:

How to Remove the Watermark (Using CapCut):

  1. Open the exported video in CapCut.

  2. For mobile designs:

    • Export the navigation bar from Figma as an image.

    • Overlay it on top of the watermark in CapCut.

  3. For desktop designs:

    • Export a design element (like a button or background-matching shape) from Figma.

    • Place it over the watermark in the video.

  4. Once the watermark is hidden, export the final video from CapCut with resolution 1080p  and quality High Quality.

4. Open this link and convert the Lottie into a video. Export the video in:

  • Frame Rate: 30
  • Repeat 1x
  • Resolution 1xX

5. Open Rotato (below you have a quick intro on How to use it)

🤔 How to use Rotato?

  • Creating Static or Screen Recording Videos in Rotato Web

    1. Open Rotato Web and select a template that fits your design.

    2. Click the "Import Image or Video" button to upload your static image or screen recording.

    3. After importing, you can customize the mockup:

      • Change the background color

      • Adjust the device color

      • Add a custom background image

    4. You can also:

      • Adjust the video duration

      • Control the speed of the device animation (drag to expand the bar in the timeline)

      • Modify the device orientation and positioning

    5. Once you're happy with the setup, click "Export" to generate your video. Export it in Standard. That's it!

📂 Where to Store the Videos

All videos should be stored in the Rotato Mockup Videos Google Drive folder. Inside this folder, you’ll find four subfolders—one for each tech stack:

  • Bubble

  • Glide

  • Webflow

  • FlutterFlow

Within each tech stack folder, there are individual folders for each app.

When uploading videos, please use the following naming format:

{app name}_{video type}_{device}

  • App name – Name of the app (e.g., Simini)

  • Video type – Either static or animated

  • Device – The device used in the mockup (e.g., mobile, tablet, desktop)

Example:

Simini_animated_mobile

This structure helps keep all assets organized and easily searchable.
